Description

Classic lasagna is the quintessential comfort food that brings family and friends around the dinner table, satisfying not just appetites, but also hearts.


Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 Egg
  • 24 oz Marinara sauce
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 1 tsp Oregano


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until browned.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Mix ricotta cheese, egg, basil, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until well combined.
  7. Layer in a baking dish: spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, and then a layer of the ricotta mixture.
  8. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese and continue layering until all your ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make sure to salt your water when cooking the lasagna noodles; this is the best way to infuse flavor from the very start. Let the lasagna rest for at least 10 minutes after baking for easier slicing.
