Classic lasagna is the quintessential comfort food that brings family and friends around the dinner table, satisfying not just appetites, but also hearts.
Ingredients
- Lasagna noodles
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 15 oz Ricotta cheese
- 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 Egg
- 24 oz Marinara sauce
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp Basil
- 1 tsp Oregano
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until browned.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Mix ricotta cheese, egg, basil, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until well combined.
- Layer in a baking dish: spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, and then a layer of the ricotta mixture.
- Add a layer of mozzarella cheese and continue layering until all your ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Make sure to salt your water when cooking the lasagna noodles; this is the best way to infuse flavor from the very start. Let the lasagna rest for at least 10 minutes after baking for easier slicing.
